Originally born in Israel, and raised in Potomac, Maryland, Ofer Cohen is a freelance bass trombonist in the Boston MA area. An accomplished and adaptable musician, he has performed with the Cape Ann Symphony (MA), New England Repertory Orchestra (MA), Symphony Pro Musica (MA), Altoona Symphony Orchestra (PA), Williamsport Symphony Orchestra (PA), and Nittany Valley Symphony (PA). Ofer is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts at Boston University. Ofer holds a Performance Certificate at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, a Masters of Music in trombone performance at the Arizona State University and a Bachelors of music in trombone performance from the Pennsylvania State University.
Ofer has attended the Cleveland Trombone Seminar for three consecutive years. His teachers include Ken Wolff, Mark Lusk, Brad Edwards, Greg Spiridopoulos, and Gabe Rice. Additionally he has participated in masterclasses with Blair Bollinger, John Rojack, Matt Vaughen, Shachar Israel, Gerry Pagano, and David Sporney. As a Soloist he has performed with the Penn State Trombone Choir and the Wolff Pack with Ken Wolff.
